2023/2024 School Social Worker Position Now Available

Blazerworks, in collaboration with the local school district in Westland, Michigan, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Social Worker for a full-time position. As a School Social Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting the social, emotional, and behavioral well-being of students. Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counseling to students, addressing their social and emotional needs.
• Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify students' social, emotional, and behavioral strengths and challenges.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement effective intervention plans.
• Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans.
• Facilitate social skills training and promote positive peer interactions and inclusivity.
• Provide crisis intervention and support to students and families in need.
• Coordinate and connect students and families with community resources and support services.
• Advocate for students' rights and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure their well-being.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress and services provided.
• Stay up-to-date with current research, best practices, and legal requirements related to school social work.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited program.
• Valid Michigan State license or certification as a School Social Worker.
• Previous experience working in a school setting or with children and adolescents is preferred.
• Knowledge of evidence-based counseling techniques and interventions.
• Strong assessment and diagnostic skills to evaluate students' social and emotional functioning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, families, and staff.
• Ability to build rapport with students and create a safe and supportive environment.
• Cultural competence and sensitivity to work effectively with diverse student populations.
• Commitment to professional growth and ongoing learning.
