DHH Teacher | Norwalk, CT

Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing experienced Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) for a full-time role with school districts. This role is an exciting opportunity to make a profound impact on the educational experience of students with hearing impairments by providing specialized instruction and support.
 

Key Responsibilities:

• Individualized Instruction: Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of deaf and hard of hearing students.
• Collaborative Teaching: Work closely with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other support staff to adapt curricula and create an inclusive learning environment.
• Assistive Technology Integration: Support the use and maintenance of assistive listening devices (e.g., hearing aids, FM systems) and ensure their proper function in the classroom.
• Family Engagement: Maintain regular communication with families, providing updates on student progress and offering strategies to support learning at home.
• Assessment & Monitoring: Conduct regular assessments to track student progress and adjust instruction methods as needed.
• Professional Collaboration: Participate in IEP meetings, staff development programs, and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive student support.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Valid Teaching License with a Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods for the deaf and hard of hearing.
• Previous experience working with students with hearing impairments is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of assistive technologies and accommodations for hearing-impaired students.
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations.
