School-Based Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher

Blazer Jobs is seeking a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to provide specialized instruction and support to students with hearing impairments in a school-based setting. The ideal candidate will foster an inclusive learning environment and ensure students have the resources needed to thrive academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing using appropriate communication methods (e.g., ASL, spoken language, cued speech).
- Adapt and modify curriculum to meet the needs of students with varying levels of hearing loss.
- Collaborate with audiologists, speech-language pathologists (SLPs), interpreters, and general education teachers to ensure accessibility in the classroom.
- Utilize assistive technology such as FM systems, hearing aids, and captioning services.
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Provide training to school staff and families on communication strategies and accommodations for students with hearing impairments.
Requirements:
- Active DHH teaching certification/licensure for the state of practice.
- Experience in a school setting preferred.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred but not required.
- Strong skills in IEP development, curriculum adaptation, and student advocacy.
- Ability to foster an inclusive, accessible, and supportive classroom environment.
