Blazer Jobs is currently seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher for a full-time contract role in Evanston, IL. This is a great opportunity for educators with a passion for supporting students with special needs in a school-based environment. You will work closely with students, families, and staff to provide tailored educational support that fosters growth and academic success.
Key Responsibilities
As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) based on students’ specific learning needs, strengths, and goals.
- Providing direct instruction to students in small groups or one-on-one, modifying lessons to meet individual educational needs.
- Collaborating with general education teachers and other staff to ensure students are integrated and supported in mainstream classrooms when appropriate.
- Monitoring and assessing student progress regularly, adjusting instructional techniques as needed to help students succeed.
- Managing classroom behavior, promoting a positive and structured environment for all students.
- Attending IEP meetings, parent conferences, and other school events to provide progress updates and collaborate on student growth.
- Maintaining accurate documentation of student progress, IEPs, and any related communications with parents.
- Providing support to students in both academic and social-emotional areas to promote holistic development.
- Ensuring full compliance with state and federal special education regulations.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following qualifications:
- Required: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education (or a related field).
- Required: A valid Special Education teaching certification for the state of Illinois.
- Preferred: Experience working with students with special needs and collaborating with families to meet educational goals.
- Preferred: Familiarity with IEP development and special education law in Illinois.
- Required: Strong organizational skills, the ability to communicate clearly with staff and parents, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Required: A compassionate approach to teaching and a desire to make a lasting difference in the lives of students.
