Requirements:
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following local and state requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's degree or higher in education or a related field is preferred.
- Certification: Must hold or be eligible to obtain a California Paraprofessional Certificate.
- Experience: Prior experience working with children, particularly in an educational setting or with special education students, is strongly preferred.
- Background Check: Must successfully complete a criminal background check and any additional screenings required by the school district.
- Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to adapt to diverse learning environments and work effectively with students, teachers, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
The Paraprofessional will support teachers and students in achieving educational goals by providing individualized and group assistance. Typical responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs) and adapting lesson plans to meet the needs of students.
- Providing one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them stay on task and reinforcing learning objectives.
- Supporting students with special needs, including those with physical, emotional, or learning disabilities.
- Monitoring and managing student behavior according to school policies.
- Assisting with classroom activities, preparing educational materials, and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Collaborating with teachers, staff, and parents to ensure the academic and social success of students.
