Full Time School Based Orientation and Mobility Specialist Role

Blazer Jobs is seeking an Orientation and Mobility Specialist for a full-time school-based role in Tacoma, Washington. This position is essential in helping students with visual impairments develop the skills needed for independent travel and safe movement in their environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction in orientation and mobility techniques.
• Conduct assessments and develop individualized mobility plans.
• Train students in using white canes and other mobility aids.
• Collaborate with school staff, parents, and external agencies.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with educational standards.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility or related field.
• Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) preferred.
• One year of experience working in a school setting.
• Ability to modify instruction to meet students' needs.
