Full-Time School SLPA – Birmingham, AL (2024-2025 School Year)
Blazerworks is seeking a dedicated Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join a school district in Birmingham, AL for the 2024-2025 school year. This is a full-time position offering competitive wages, benefits, and professional support.
Position Overview:
The SLPA will work closely with a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to support students with communication disorders and other speech-related needs. Responsibilities include assisting with therapy sessions, implementing treatment plans, documenting progress, and collaborating with educators and families to support student success.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting speech and language therapy sessions under the supervision of an SLP
- Implement individualized treatment plans to help students improve their communication skills
- Support students in both individual and group settings
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and report findings to the supervising SLP
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to ensure comprehensive student support
- Assist with assessments and evaluations as directed by the supervising SLP
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistance
- Active SLPA license in Alabama (or eligibility to obtain before the start date)
- Previous experience in a school setting is preferred but not required
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in an educational environment
