Full-Time Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) – Shakopee, MN
Blazerworks is actively seeking a qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for a full-time position in Shakopee, MN, for the 2024-2025 school year. Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments in various educational settings.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to support student learning and development.
- Collaborate with general and special education teachers, parents, and support staff to create an accessible and inclusive classroom environment.
- Adapt and modify instructional materials, assessments, and learning strategies to meet the unique needs of visually impaired students.
- Conduct functional vision assessments and assistive technology evaluations to determine student needs and appropriate accommodations.
- Train students in the use of assistive technology, braille, and other adaptive tools to enhance their educational experience.
- Maintain accurate records, track student progress, and participate in IEP meetings and evaluations.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid Minnesota teaching certification with a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) endorsement.
- Experience working with students with visual impairments in a school setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to create an engaging and supportive learning environment tailored to individual student needs.
