Full-Time Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) – Shakopee, MN

Blazerworks is actively seeking a qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for a full-time position in Shakopee, MN, for the 2024-2025 school year. This role is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated educator who is passionate about supporting students with visual impairments in an inclusive and engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments in various educational settings.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to support student learning and development.
  • Collaborate with general and special education teachers, parents, and support staff to create an accessible and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Adapt and modify instructional materials, assessments, and learning strategies to meet the unique needs of visually impaired students.
  • Conduct functional vision assessments and assistive technology evaluations to determine student needs and appropriate accommodations.
  • Train students in the use of assistive technology, braille, and other adaptive tools to enhance their educational experience.
  • Maintain accurate records, track student progress, and participate in IEP meetings and evaluations.

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a valid Minnesota teaching certification with a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) endorsement.
  • Experience working with students with visual impairments in a school setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to create an engaging and supportive learning environment tailored to individual student needs.
