Blazer Jobs is currently seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher for a full-time contract position in Franklin Park, IL. Key Responsibilities
As a Special Education Teacher, your duties will include:
- Developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that meet the unique academic and behavioral needs of each student.
- Providing specialized instruction to students, whether one-on-one or in small groups, adjusting teaching methods to accommodate individual learning styles.
- Collaborating with general education teachers, school specialists, and parents to create a coordinated, supportive approach for each student’s education.
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting instruction as needed, using data from assessments and regular evaluations.
- Managing classroom behavior, creating a positive and structured environment for learning.
- Attending IEP meetings, parent conferences, and staff meetings, working closely with families and colleagues to discuss student progress, accommodations, and strategies for success.
- Maintaining accurate records of student performance, IEPs, and communication with families to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Offering emotional and social support to students to help them succeed both in and out of the classroom.
- Ensuring compliance with state and federal education laws, especially those regarding special education.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Required: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education (or a related field).
- Required: A valid Special Education teaching certification for the state of Illinois.
- Preferred: Previous experience working with students with special needs, particularly in a school-based environment.
- Preferred: Experience in IEP development and knowledge of educational assessments.
- Required: Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Required: A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to teaching students with diverse needs.
