Full-Time Theatre/Drama Teacher (General Education)

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Theatre/Drama Teacher to join our team at in Reserve, LA. This position involves teaching students from Kindergarten to 12th grade. The ideal candidate will hold appropriate licensure for this role and demonstrate proficiency in theatre arts education across various age groups.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging and comprehensive theatre/drama curriculum aligned with state standards.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and self-expression.
  • Provide instruction in acting techniques, stagecraft, improvisation, and other aspects of theatre production.
  • Direct and oversee student performances, including plays, musicals, and other theatrical presentations.
  • Assess student progress through various means, including performances, projects, and written assignments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student success and promote the arts within the school community.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in theatre education.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts, Drama Education, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching license/certification in Theatre/Drama Education.
  • Previous teaching experience at the K-12 level preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of theatre history, dramatic literature, and theatrical production techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
