Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate General Education Teacher for a 4th-grade position in an urban school district. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for all students and have the skills to support children with mild to moderate disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum and meet the diverse needs of students.
- Provide instruction in core subjects while integrating special education strategies as necessary.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and support to facilitate academic growth.
- Collaborate with special education staff and other educators to create an inclusive classroom environment.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and strategies for support at home.
- Uphold a safe and respectful classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Stay informed about the unique challenges faced by urban students and utilize appropriate resources to support them and their families.
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan teaching certification.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably in urban settings.
- Knowledge of the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and related IDEA Federal Regulations.
- Ability to address the specific struggles of urban children and provide resources to assist their educational journey.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
