Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate General Education Teacher for a 4th-grade position in an urban school district. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for all students and have the skills to support children with mild to moderate disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with the curriculum and meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Provide instruction in core subjects while integrating special education strategies as necessary.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and support to facilitate academic growth.
  • Collaborate with special education staff and other educators to create an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and strategies for support at home.
  • Uphold a safe and respectful classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
  • Stay informed about the unique challenges faced by urban students and utilize appropriate resources to support them and their families.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Michigan teaching certification.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students, preferably in urban settings.
  • Knowledge of the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and related IDEA Federal Regulations.
  • Ability to address the specific struggles of urban children and provide resources to assist their educational journey.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
