BlazerJobs is actively seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join a high school team in Waldoboro, ME, for the 2024-2025 school year. This in-person role focuses on supporting students with significant needs in a specialized classroom environment.

Position Details:

  • Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
  • Caseload:
    • 5 students with diverse and significant needs, including:
      • Autism
      • Cognitive impairments
      • Non-speaking communication styles
      • Medically fragile conditions
      • Self-injurious behaviors
    • Classroom support includes 4 paraprofessionals

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs
  • Utilize specialized strategies to address significant behavioral, medical, and academic challenges
  • Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, therapists, families, and other team members to support student success
  • Implement evidence-based practices for students with severe disabilities
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must meet Maine state certification requirements for Special Education Teachers
  • Experience working with students with significant autism, medical fragility, and/or behavioral challenges is preferred
  • Proficient in working collaboratively with a team of paraprofessionals and specialists
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Note: This position is in-person only; remote candidates will not be considered
