We at Blazerworks are hiring a full-time Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to work with a school in Columbus, GA. The second semester is in full swing, but our students still need support, and we're searching for a dedicated professional to join the team. Dates: ASAP- May 2025 School Year
Caseload Information:
  • Full Time: 37.5 hours
  • One student with extreme needs: they can only see shadows
Job Details:
  • Design and implement tailored instructional plans and materials for students with visual impairments.
  • Provide direct teaching and support to visually impaired students, both individually and in small groups.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instructional methods to address their evolving needs.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.
  • Recommend and incorporate assistive technologies and adaptive strategies to enhance learning.
Requirements:
  • MUST HAVE Illinois PEL, or willing to get it
  • MUST HAVE Education Specialist with Visual Impairments (VI) endorsement for Illinois
  • Master’s level degree in Education for Visually Impaired Students
  • MUST possess a valid Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification or licensure.
  • Experience supporting students with visual impairments
  • Proficiency in Braille, including letters, symbols, and numbers
  • Expertise in specialized instructional methods and assistive technology
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, families, and staff
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
