Schedule: Monday-Friday

We are seeking a dedicated Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHHT) to join our team for the 2024/2025 school year in Sherman, TX. This position offers the opportunity to work with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, utilizing specialized instructional strategies and collaborating with a supportive team of educators.

Education/Certification Needed:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field.
  • Valid Texas teaching certification with Deaf and Hard of Hearing endorsement (DHHT).

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, utilizing appropriate instructional strategies, materials, and technology.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula according to Individualized Education Plan (IEP) guidelines.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student learning styles and achievements.
  • Manage classroom environments and student behavior, overseeing the work of instructional aides.
  • Maintain required reports and records aligned with the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain open communication with parents, students, and colleagues.
  • Engage in extracurricular activities, faculty meetings, and staff committees to support the school district’s mission.
