Blazer Jobs is actively seeking an experienced High School Special Education Teacher for a role within the Pathways Program in Billerica, MA. This program serves a small number of young adults aged 18-22 who are receiving job and life skill instruction.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of each student.
- Provide specialized instruction and support in job skills, life skills, and academic areas.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including parents, support staff, and outside agencies, to ensure students' success.
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
- Facilitate a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student independence and growth.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- A valid Massachusetts teaching license in Moderate Disabilities (5-12) or Severe Disabilities.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of experience working with high school-aged students in a special education setting.
- Strong knowledge of IDEA and state special education regulations.
- Experience in teaching job and life skills to young adults with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
