Caseload: Maximum of 10 students
We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team in Virginia. This position involves working with K-5 grade students in a Life Skills Classroom setting. The caseload consists of a maximum of 10 students who are all focusing on life skills and basic academics.
- Plan, develop, and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students based on their specific needs and abilities.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in both life skills and basic academic areas.
- Collaborate with other educators, support staff, and parents to ensure the success and progress of each student.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and instructional materials to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting instruction as needed to address individual goals and objectives.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and participation.
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid SPED teaching license/certification in the state of Virginia.
- Experience working with K-5 grade students in a special education setting.
- Knowledge of best practices in special education and familiarity with IEP development and implementation.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom with support from paraprofessionals.
