To work as a Special Education Teacher in Chicago, IL, candidates must have a Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 Endorsement issued by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). A Bachelor’s degree in Special Education is required, and passing the Illinois Licensure Testing System (ILTS) exam is necessary.
