Blazer Jobs is currently seeking an experienced bilingual Paraprofessional for a full-time contract position in Calumet City, IL, starting in the new school year. This school-based role offers the opportunity to provide valuable support to students, educators, and families in a diverse educational environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide bilingual instructional support to students in the classroom under the direction of certified teachers.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, including English language learners.
  • Support students with academic tasks in both English and the target language, including reading, writing, math, and other subject areas as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers and educational professionals to create a culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist with behavior management and intervention strategies to address student needs and promote positive behavior.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues to support student success and well-being across language barriers.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to bilingual students who require additional assistance or accommodations.
  • Assist with classroom organization, materials preparation, and administrative tasks as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with teachers, parents/guardians, and other stakeholders in both English and the target language.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Fluency in English and a second language, with preference given to Spanish or another commonly spoken language in the community.
  • Previous experience working with students in an educational setting, with a preference for experience in bilingual education or special education.
  • Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in both English and the target language.
  • Familiarity with local and state regulations for paraprofessionals in educational settings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with special education students and their families.
  • Certification or training in bilingual education, ESL, or related field.
