Blazerworks is actively seeking a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join a full-time position in Columbus, GA for the remainder of the 24/25 school year. Caseload Information:
- Full Time: 37.5 hours
- One student with extreme needs: they can only see shadows
Job Details:
- Design and implement tailored instructional plans and materials for students with visual impairments.
- Provide direct teaching and support to visually impaired students, both individually and in small groups.
- Assess student progress and adjust instructional methods to address their evolving needs.
- Work closely with classroom teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Recommend and incorporate assistive technologies and adaptive strategies to enhance learning.
Requirements:
- MUST HAVE Illinois PEL, or willing to get it
- MUST HAVE Education Specialist with Visual Impairments (VI) endorsement for Illinois
- Master’s level degree in Education for Visually Impaired Students
- MUST possess a valid Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification or licensure.
- Experience supporting students with visual impairments
- Proficiency in Braille, including letters, symbols, and numbers
- Expertise in specialized instructional methods and assistive technology
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, families, and staff
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
