The TVI will provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, empowering them to achieve academic success and independence. This position requires a deep understanding of the unique learning needs of students with visual impairments and the ability to collaborate effectively with school staff, families, and community partners to ensure access to a quality education for all students.

Job Description:

  1. Start: August 19, 2024 - May 30, 2025
  2. Hours: Full time 37.5 hr/weekly. 7.5 hours daily
  3. Caseload: PreK-8th grade students, Will include traveling to different schools. Hours will range from (7:30AM - 3:40PM)
  4. Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in core academic subjects, including literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies, using appropriate accommodations and adaptations as needed.
  5. Assess students' educational needs and develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the IEP team.
  6. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, materials, and technologies to support students' learning and engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in education of the visually impaired or a related field.
  • Valid teaching license or certification in visual impairment education (TVI certification).
  • Experience working with students with visual impairments, including knowledge of braille and other specialized instructional techniques.
