Blazer Jobs is seeking a dedicated and experienced Occupational Therapist for a full-time contract role in a school-based setting in Tarrant, AL. This position will cover maternity leave and is an excellent opportunity for professionals who meet all local and state regulatory requirements and have a passion for supporting students, particularly those in special education.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct evaluations to assess students’ occupational therapy needs and develop personalized therapy plans.
- Provide direct therapy services to students, focusing on improving fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, and other functional skills necessary for academic and daily life success.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that meet the specific needs of students.
- Monitor student progress and modify therapy plans as necessary to ensure therapy goals are being met.
- Assist students in enhancing their daily living skills and developing greater independence in school and other environments.
- Provide guidance and training to school staff and parents on how to support students’ therapy goals in the classroom and at home.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with school district and state requirements.
- Attend IEP meetings and collaborate with other team members to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid Occupational Therapist license in the state of Alabama.
- Experience working with special education students and families is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and the special education process.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
