Blazer Jobs is seeking a dedicated and experienced Occupational Therapist for a full-time contract role in a school-based setting in Bremerton, WA. This is an excellent opportunity for those passionate about working with students, especially those with special needs, and meeting all local and state regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to evaluate students’ occupational therapy needs and establish therapy goals tailored to their specific needs.
- Provide direct therapy services to students, focusing on improving fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-regulation, and other functional skills that are essential for academic and daily living success.
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and school staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students.
- Monitor student progress and adjust therapy plans as needed to ensure the achievement of therapy goals.
- Assist students in enhancing their daily living skills and increasing independence in various environments.
- Train and support staff and parents on strategies to integrate occupational therapy techniques into the students' learning and home environments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in accordance with district and state regulations.
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid Occupational Therapist license in the state of Washington.
- Experience working with special education students and their families is highly preferred.
- A solid understanding of IEP development and the special education process.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
