Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with occupational therapists, educators, and other school personnel to provide high-quality occupational therapy services to students with diverse needs and abilities
  • Implement individualized treatment plans developed by licensed occupational therapists, focusing on enhancing students' functional skills, independence, and participation in educational activities
  • Conduct assessments, evaluations, and screenings to identify students' strengths, challenges, and areas for intervention, and maintain accurate documentation of assessment results and progress notes
  • Deliver direct therapy services, including therapeutic exercises, activities, and interventions, to address students' sensory, motor, and cognitive needs in alignment with their individualized education plans (IEPs) and educational goals
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to integrate therapy goals and strategies into students' classroom routines and activities, promoting inclusive and supportive learning environments
  • Provide training and support to educational staff, parents, and caregivers on implementing therapeutic strategies, accommodations, and adaptations to support students' success in the classroom and at home
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, individualized education plan (IEP) meetings, and other collaborative forums to contribute to students' educational planning and support services

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree from an accredited occupational therapy assistant program
  • Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) issued by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
  • Valid licensure or eligibility for licensure as a COTA in the state of Georgia
  • Previous experience in pediatric or school-based occupational therapy preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Commitment to promoting independence, inclusion, and accessibility for all students in the school community
