Blazer Jobs is excited to partner with the Forest City School District in the search for a full-time Orientation & Mobility Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will play an essential part in enhancing the mobility and independence of students with visual impairments.

Job Description:

As an Orientation & Mobility Specialist, you will provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments to help them travel safely and efficiently in various environments. Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting assessments to determine the orientation and mobility needs of students with visual impairments.
• Developing individualized orientation and mobility plans to enhance students' independent travel skills.
• Providing direct instruction in orientation and mobility techniques, including the use of mobility aids and devices.
• Collaborating with educational teams and families to ensure a comprehensive approach to students' mobility needs.
• Evaluating and adjusting instruction based on student progress and needs.
• Advocating for accessibility and inclusive practices to enhance mobility and participation for individuals with visual impairments.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Orientation & Mobility or related field.
• Certification as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist.
• Experience working with individuals with visual impairments preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Empathy, patience, and a commitment to empowering individuals with visual impairments.
