Position Overview: As a Paraprofessional in Vestavia Hills, AL, you will play a vital role in supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth under the guidance of certified teachers and educational staff. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities or special accommodations
  • Assist teachers in implementing instructional activities and interventions designed to meet individualized education plans (IEPs) and support student learning goals
  • Reinforce classroom instruction by providing guided practice, reinforcement activities, and academic support to students in various subjects and skill areas
  • Assist with classroom management and behavior support strategies to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students
  • Collaborate with teachers and educational staff to monitor student progress, collect data, and modify instructional strategies as needed to meet student needs
  • Support students during transitions between activities, classrooms, and school settings to ensure their safety, well-being, and success throughout the school day
  • Provide personal care assistance, as needed, to students with disabilities or medical conditions, following established protocols and procedures
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and caregivers to promote open communication, trust, and collaboration in supporting student success
  • Participate in professional development activities and training sessions to enhance job skills, knowledge, and effectiveness as a Paraprofessional


  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Completion of Paraprofessional training program or equivalent experience preferred
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with students in a school or educational setting
  • Knowledge of instructional techniques, behavior management strategies, and best practices in supporting student learning and development
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and communicate effectively with students, teachers, and school staff
  • Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and patience in working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards, confidentiality, and professionalism in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues
  • Willingness to undergo background checks, fingerprinting, and other screening processes as required by state and federal regulations
