Requirements:
Applicants must meet the following local and state requirements to be considered:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's degree or higher in education or a related field is preferred.
- Certification: New Hampshire Paraeducator II Certificate or eligibility to obtain it.
- Experience: Previous experience working with children in an educational setting, particularly in special education or one-on-one support, is highly preferred.
- Background Check: Successful completion of a criminal background check and other screenings required by the school district.
- Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and adapt to varying classroom environments.
Key Responsibilities:
The Paraprofessional will support students and assist teachers in creating an inclusive and effective learning environment. Typical responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs) and supporting students' specific needs.
- Providing one-on-one or small group assistance to students, reinforcing lessons and helping with academic tasks.
- Assisting with classroom management, including monitoring student behavior and providing support during activities, transitions, and breaks.
- Supporting students with physical, emotional, or learning disabilities, ensuring a safe and productive environment.
- Preparing educational materials and assisting teachers in organizing resources and activities.
- Collaborating with teachers, staff, and parents to enhance students' academic and social development.
