Blazer Jobs is currently seeking an experienced Paraprofessional for a full-time contract position in New Orleans, LA, specifically for the summer school program. This school-based role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' learning and development during the summer months.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide instructional support to students under the guidance of certified teachers during the summer school program.
  • Assist in implementing educational plans and activities designed to support student learning and engagement.
  • Collaborate with teachers and educational staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students with special needs by implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and providing necessary accommodations and modifications.
  • Assist with classroom management and behavior intervention strategies to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who require additional assistance with academic tasks.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues to promote student success and well-being.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with teachers and parents/guardians regarding student achievements and challenges.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, materials preparation, and other duties as assigned by school leadership.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working with students in an educational setting, preferably in special education or summer school programs.
  • Knowledge of and experience with behavior management techniques and strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues to meet student needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to the diverse needs of students and provide appropriate support and encouragement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with special education students and their families.
  • Certification or training in special education, child development, or a related field.
