We are seeking a compassionate and skilled High School Nurse Paraprofessional (HS Nurse Para) to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work within a special education classroom, providing essential support to high school students with diverse disabilities and medical needs. While the role primarily focuses on paraprofessional duties, LPN experience is required to meet the medical needs of our students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in supporting students with a variety of disabilities and medical needs in a special education classroom setting.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other support personnel to ensure the well-being and academic success of students.
- Provide medical assistance, as needed, under the supervision of licensed professionals.
- Monitor students' health and safety, responding promptly to any medical needs or emergencies.
- Support students in their daily activities, including academic tasks, mobility, and personal care.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of students' health and progress.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and learning.
Qualifications:
- Paraprofessional Educational Requirements:
- Hold an Associates Degree or Higher
- OR a certificate with a minimum score of 464 on the ParaPro Assessment provided by the Educational Testing Service
- OR completed apprenticeship as a Paraeducator
- Experience with Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) duties is required.
- Previous experience working with students with disabilities and medical needs is preferred.
