BlazerJobs is currently seeking dedicated Paraprofessionals to join the team in Kansas City, KS. This is a full-time position, offering the opportunity to work in either elementary or secondary school settings, providing direct support to students with a variety of learning needs. As a Paraprofessional, you will work under the direction of the classroom teacher and special education staff to support students' academic, social, and behavioral development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 or small group support to students in the classroom
- Assist with the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioral strategies
- Support students in staying focused on academic tasks and help with classroom activities
- Assist students with social and emotional skills
- Monitor and track student progress and assist with data collection
- Help with classroom management and creating a positive, inclusive environment
- Support students during transitions between activities and provide assistance as needed
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and other staff members to ensure students' needs are met
- Assist with daily routines and supervision during lunch, recess, and other school activities
- Provide support for students with special needs in both general education and special education settings
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in special education preferred
- Experience working with students with special needs, particularly in an educational setting, is a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff
- Compassion, patience, and a desire to help students succeed
- Ability to handle classroom behavior management with a positive approach
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school environment
