Part Time Orientation and Mobility Specialist Needed for School Based Role
Blazer Jobs is hiring a part-time Orientation and Mobility Specialist for a school district in New Caney, Texas. This role focuses on teaching essential mobility skills to students with visual impairments, ensuring they can navigate safely and independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized travel and mobility training plans.
- Instruct students on spatial and environmental concepts.
- Provide hands-on training with mobility aids and assistive technology.
- Work collaboratively with educators, therapists, and families.
- Document progress and adjust lesson plans as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility or a related field.
- Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) preferred.
- One year of experience working with visually impaired students.
- Strong communication and instructional skills.
