School Based Orientation Mobility Specialist Contract Opportunity

Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing experienced Orientation & Mobility Specialists for a full-time role with school districts in the Clarkesville, GA area. We are seeking dedicated professionals who are passionate about supporting students with visual impairments by enhancing their independence and mobility skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess students' orientation and mobility needs to develop individualized instruction plans.
• Teach students with visual impairments how to travel safely and independently in various environments.
• Provide direct instruction in cane techniques, route planning, and sensory awareness.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other educational staff to support student progress.
• Advocate for students by ensuring appropriate accommodations and accessibility in school settings.
• Maintain accurate records and document student progress and instructional plans.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Orientation & Mobility or a related field.
• Certification from ACVREP (Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation & Education Professionals) is preferred.
• Experience working with students with visual impairments in an educational setting is a plus.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a commitment to student success.
