School Based SLI Contract Position - Full Time

Blazer Jobs is actively seeking experienced Sign Language Interpreters (SLIs) for full-time positions with school districts in the Kansas City, KS area. If you are passionate about facilitating communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing students and have the skills to make a difference, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpretation for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in various educational settings, including classrooms, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
• Facilitate effective communication between students and teachers, as well as among peers.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards of practice.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment for students.
• Assist in developing strategies to enhance students’ access to the curriculum.
• Monitor students' understanding and participation, adjusting interpretation methods as needed.
• Stay current with educational practices and relevant sign language terminology.

Qualifications:

• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID, NIC, or equivalent).
• Experience interpreting in educational settings is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and deaf culture.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with educators, students, and parents.
• Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic classroom environment.
