Position Overview: As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) at a school district, you will play a vital role in supporting the occupational therapy needs of our students. Under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists, you will implement individualized treatment plans, provide direct therapy services, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote the overall well-being and success of our students.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of occupational therapy interventions as outlined in individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Provide direct therapy services to students in both individual and group settings.
  • Collaborate with occupational therapists, teachers, and other members of the educational team to develop and implement effective strategies to support students' functional skills development.
  • Document student progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and therapy goals.
  • Participate in team meetings, in-service training, and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) issued by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a COTA in the state of Wisconsin.
  • Experience working with school-aged children preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
