This role requires someone who is not only skilled in nursing but also adaptable, empathetic, and willing to meet the diverse needs of the student you will be supporting.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Nursing
- Must have active New Jersey RN License or Compact License
- Must be CPR and BLS certified
- Previous experience in pediatrics or schools preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Accompany the student on their daily bus ride to and from school, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being throughout the journey.
- Provide medical support and assistance as needed during transportation, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and responding to any medical emergencies.
- Assisting with toileting and diapering needs, if required ensuring the student's dignity and privacy are maintained at all times.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including documentation of medications administered, health assessments, and any incidents or concerns that arise during transportation.
- Collaborate closely with the student's family, teachers, and other members of the educational team to coordinate care and support the student's individual needs.
- Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations governing school nursing practice, as well as state and federal laws related to student transportation and medical care.
