Requirements:
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following local and state requirements:

• Education: Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
• Licensure: Valid School Social Worker license in the state of Connecticut.
• Certification: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) is preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience in a school setting or working with children and families is highly preferred.
• Background Check: Successful completion of a criminal background check and any additional screenings required by the school district.
• Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; ability to work collaboratively with diverse student populations, families, and school staff.

Key Responsibilities:
The School Social Worker will provide comprehensive support services to students to help them succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Typical responsibilities include:

• Conducting assessments to identify students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
• Developing and implementing individualized support plans for students in need of social or emotional intervention.
• Providing direct counseling services to students individually or in groups to address issues such as anxiety, depression, bullying, and family conflicts.
• Collaborating with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop strategies for supporting students' needs.
• Serving as a liaison between the school, families, and community resources to provide additional support and referrals.
• Maintaining accurate records, documentation, and reports in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Participating in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and professional development opportunities.
