Blazer Jobs is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher for a full-time contract position in Newport, NH. Key Responsibilities
As a Special Education Teacher, your duties will include:
- Developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs.
- Providing direct instruction to students in one-on-one or small group settings, ensuring lessons meet each student's unique learning needs.
- Collaborating with general education teachers, specialists, and parents to develop and monitor accommodations and modifications that support student success.
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting instructional strategies to ensure academic growth and achievement.
- Managing classroom behavior and creating a positive, structured learning environment.
- Participating in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and staff meetings to discuss student progress and make adjustments as necessary.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, IEPs, and communications with families.
- Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to special education.
- Supporting students in developing social-emotional skills and helping them build confidence and self-advocacy.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Required: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education (or a related field).
- Required: A valid Special Education certification for the state of New Hampshire.
- Preferred: Previous experience working with students with special needs and familiarity with IEP development.
- Preferred: Strong knowledge of special education laws and regulations in New Hampshire.
- Required: Strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
- Required: Ability to build rapport with students and work effectively with families and school staff.
