Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing experienced Orientation & Mobility Specialists for a full-time role with school districts in the Duncanville, TX area. We are seeking dedicated professionals who are passionate about helping students with visual impairments develop the skills needed for safe and independent navigation in school and community settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction in orientation and mobility techniques to students with visual impairments.
  • Develop and implement individualized mobility plans based on student needs and IEP goals.
  • Teach students to use assistive devices such as canes and electronic mobility aids.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to support student progress.
  • Conduct assessments and provide recommendations for accessibility and accommodations.
  • Train school staff on best practices for supporting students with visual impairments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation & Mobility or a related field.
  • Certification as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS) is preferred.
  • Experience working in a school setting is a plus.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to fostering independence and confidence in students.
