A Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) position for the upcoming school year has opened near Oroville, California. We are looking for a hard-working candidate who meets the following qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Must have an Associate's Degree in Interpreting
- Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf, or have achieved a score of 4.0 or above on the EIPA, the ESSE-I/R, or the NAD/ACCI assessment
About the Position:
- Full-time: up to 40 hours per week
- Caseload details will be shared during the interview process
- Pay Range: $40 - $65 per hour, depending on previous experience
- Interpret conversations, lectures, classroom instruction, meetings, presentations, and other spoken language interactions.
- Facilitate effective communication by adapting sign language interpretation to meet the needs and preferences of individuals with diverse communication styles.
- Collaborate with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as with hearing individuals, such as teachers, administrators, colleagues, and service providers, to ensure effective communication and a seamless exchange of information.
- Facilitate communication and education among hard of hearing and deaf students and their hearing peers, the classroom teacher and other personnel in the school system
- Provide sign to voice and voice to sign interpreting
- Assist students in academic subjects such as reading, writing and math; work effectively with students in classrooms and assist them in vocational and/or living skills
- Monitor students during classroom, outdoor or community activities
