Employment Type: Full-Time (37.5 hours/week)

Caseload: Approximately 8–10 students | Grades K–5

Position Overview

Blazer Jobs is actively hiring a qualified Special Education Teacher for a full-time position in Derby, Kansas for the 2025–2026 school year. This elementary-level position involves teaching a self-contained classroom with a focus on foundational learning and inclusive support. The teacher will collaborate with general education staff and oversee two paraprofessionals to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and provide a supportive and structured learning environment for students with a range of developmental needs.


Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to students with Autism, Down Syndrome, and intellectual disabilities

  • Oversee and manage a classroom of approximately 8–10 students

  • Supervise and schedule two paraprofessionals to support daily instruction

  • Develop and implement IEPs in compliance with state and district guidelines

  • Coordinate student schedules to support inclusion time in general education classrooms

  • Focus on building foundational academic, social, and life skills

  • Maintain accurate documentation and collaborate with families and IEP teams


Qualifications

  • Valid Kansas Special Education Teaching License (required)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s preferred)

  • Experience with elementary-aged students and moderate to severe disabilities (preferred)

  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills

  • Ability to foster an inclusive, student-centered learning environment
