Requirements:

Applicants must meet all local and state regulations, including:

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Special Education (e.g., Learning Disabilities, Cognitive Impairment, Emotional Impairment, Autism Spectrum Disorder, etc.)

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field

• Prior experience in a special education setting (preferred)

• Ability to pass a state and district background check and fingerprinting

Typical Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs

• Provide direct instruction in both inclusive and self-contained classroom settings

• Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to ensure student success

• Monitor and assess student progress; adjust instruction as needed

• Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with school policies and legal requirements

• Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and administrators regarding student progress
