Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct assessments to determine students' visual and learning needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Instruction and Adaptation: Provide specialized instruction, adapt materials, and implement strategies for students with visual impairments.
- Collaboration and Consultation: Work with teachers, staff, and families to support the learning needs of visually impaired students and offer guidance on effective teaching methods.
- Assistive Technology: Recommend, train, and support the use of assistive technology to enhance student learning and independence.
- Support and Advocacy: Advocate for students, teach self-advocacy skills, and involve families in their child’s education.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing learning and provide training to others on visual impairment topics.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain student records and ensure compliance with educational regulations.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education with a focus on Visual Impairment, or a related field.
- State certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
- Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology for visual impairments, and orientation and mobility strategies.
