Join Our Team! A School near Santa Ana, CA is looking for a Passionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to Make a Difference!"

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct assessments to determine students' visual and learning needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs).
  2. Instruction and Adaptation: Provide specialized instruction, adapt materials, and implement strategies for students with visual impairments.
  3. Collaboration and Consultation: Work with teachers, staff, and families to support the learning needs of visually impaired students and offer guidance on effective teaching methods.
  4. Assistive Technology: Recommend, train, and support the use of assistive technology to enhance student learning and independence.
  5. Support and Advocacy: Advocate for students, teach self-advocacy skills, and involve families in their child’s education.
  6. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing learning and provide training to others on visual impairment topics.
  7. Documentation and Compliance: Maintain student records and ensure compliance with educational regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education with a focus on Visual Impairment, or a related field.
  • State certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
  • Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology for visual impairments, and orientation and mobility strategies.
