Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our school community in Texas City, TX. In this role, you will provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, helping them develop essential skills to succeed academically and socially. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet each student’s specific needs and learning goals.

  • Assess students’ functional vision and create strategies that support their success in various settings.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to ensure a cohesive, supportive learning environment.
  • Offer training to school staff on accommodating and including students with visual impairments.
  • Stay current with best practices in the field of visual impairment and special education.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education with certification in Visual Impairment (TVI) or a related field.
  • Texas State Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
  • Knowledge of braille, orientation and mobility techniques, and adaptive technology.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to collaboration and student empowerment.
  • Passion for working with students with visual impairments and supporting their educational journey.
