Sign Language Interpreter - Columbia, South Carolina

We are seeking a dedicated and qualified full-time Sign Language Interpreter to join our team for the 2023-2024 school year in Columbia, South Carolina. This position involves providing sign language interpretation services within school settings, with hours varying based on the school's schedule.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitating communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and educators using American Sign Language (ASL) or other sign language modalities.
• Interpreting classroom instruction, discussions, presentations, and other educational activities for students who use sign language as their primary mode of communication.
• Assisting in creating an inclusive and accessible learning environment for students with hearing impairments.
• Collaborating with teachers, staff, and parents to ensure effective communication and support for students' educational needs.

Requirements:

• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or relevant credentials.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other sign language modalities.
• Previous experience working in educational settings preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
