Sign Language Interpreter for Elementary School - Part-Time Position Available

Blazer Jobs is currently interviewing for a part-time role for an experienced Sign Language Interpreter in the Las Vegas, New Mexico area. We are seeking dedicated professionals who are passionate about providing essential support to students in an elementary school setting.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and staff using American Sign Language (ASL).
• Interpret classroom instructions, discussions, and other school-related communications.
• Adapt interpretation to fit the needs of students with varying levels of hearing loss.
• Collaborate with teachers and educational staff to ensure that students receive a comprehensive educational experience.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions.

Qualifications:

• Must meet all local and state requirements for a Sign Language Interpreter in New Mexico, including:
  • A current New Mexico Sign Language Interpreter License.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other manual communication systems as required.
  • Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited interpreter training program.
• Prior experience in an educational setting, preferably in an elementary school.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
