Sign Language Interpreter Job Opening

Blazer Jobs is partnering with a school district near Whiteland, IN, to hire a passionate and skilled Sign Language Interpreter (SLI).
 

Key Responsibilities:

• Student Support: Provide real-time interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL) for students in classrooms, assemblies, and other school activities.
• Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, staff, and special education teams to ensure students' communication needs are met.
• Educational Engagement: Facilitate understanding and participation in academic instruction and social interactions for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• IEP Goals: Support the implementation of individualized education plan (IEP) goals related to communication and language development.
• Adaptability: Adjust communication methods to suit the individual needs of students and the educational setting.

Qualifications:

• Certification: Valid SLI certification required. Candidates must meet all state and local certification requirements for interpreting in an educational setting.
• Experience: Prior experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, particularly in a school setting, is preferred.
• Skills: Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and excellent communication skills.
