Sign Language Interpreter On-site

Blazer Jobs is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a middle school and elementary setting. This full-time position involves facilitating communication and supporting students in academic and social settings.

Job Responsibilities

• Interpret classroom instruction and discussions using ASL
• Adapt communication methods to match students’ needs (e.g., whiteboard drawings, visual aids)
• Assist with language development, tutoring, and communication breakdowns
• Encourage student independence and teach self-advocacy skills
• Collaborate with the DHH team and classroom teachers, providing updates and observations
• Support students in understanding and completing classroom tasks

Qualifications

• Active interpreter license or certification (NIC, RID, or equivalent preferred)
• Experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in an educational setting
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to adapt interpreting methods based on student needs
