Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) Job in School Setting

Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing experienced School Sign Language Interpreters for a full-time role with school districts in the Jim Thorpe, PA area. We are looking for committed professionals who are passionate about bridging communication gaps and supporting an inclusive classroom environment for hearing-impaired students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide live interpretation of spoken language into sign language and vice versa during classes and meetings.
• Collaborate with educators to modify and adapt instructional materials for hearing-impaired students.
• Support students in individual and group settings to enhance their educational experience.
• Maintain detailed records of interpretation sessions and student progress.
• Work closely with school staff to ensure that all communications are accessible and effective.
• Engage in continuous professional development to keep skills current.

Qualifications:

• Certification in sign language interpretation (or equivalent experience) is required.
• Previous experience working with hearing-impaired students in an educational setting is preferred.
• Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
• Empathy, patience, and a strong commitment to inclusive education.
• Ability to work well as part of a collaborative team.
