Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) Role in School Setting

Blazer Jobs is actively interviewing experienced School Sign Language Interpreters (SLIs) for a full-time role with school districts in the Avon, IL area. We are looking for dedicated professionals who are passionate about facilitating communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide interpretation services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in classroom and school-related activities.
• Support students by ensuring clear and effective communication between teachers, peers, and school staff.
• Interpret lectures, discussions, and other spoken communication into American Sign Language (ASL).
• Assist in fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with hearing impairments.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to support student progress.
• Adhere to professional standards and maintain confidentiality regarding student information.

Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as RID or EIPA certification).
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Previous experience working in an educational setting is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
