Our partner school in Lapeer, Michigan is looking to find a kind and compassionate Social Worker (SW) or Mental Health Professional to join our Special Education team for the full school year. As a School Social Worker, you will be providing essential support to our students facing social, emotional, economic, and environmental challenges!
Requirements:
- One of the following:
- A licensed master’s level psychologist
- A limited licensed master’s level psychologist, under the supervision of a licensed master’s
- level psychologist
- A MDE credentialed master’s level school psychologist
- A licensed master’s level social worker
- A licensed master’s level school social worker
- A limited licensed master’s level social worker, under the supervision of a LMSW
- Licensed bachelor level social worker (If they only have Bachelors, they must get their Masters within 2 years of working at Lapeer)
- (A LBSW must be currently enrolled or plan to enroll in a program
- to become a Limited Licensed Master Social Worker (LLMSW) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) within 24 months of their date of hire)
- A licensed master’s level marriage and family therapist
- A licensed master’s level professional counselor
- A limited licensed master’s level professional counselor, under the supervision of a
- licensed master’s level professional counselor
- Any of the following (with additional requirements noted afterwards:)
- School Counselor License (SCL)
- Michigan Teaching Certificate with the -School Counselor (NT) endorsement
- Preliminary School Counselor Credential (PSCC)
- Temporary School Counselor License (TSCL)
Previous experience in schools or pediatrics preferred, but not required.
Position Details:
Current School Year
Full-Time: up to 40 hours per week
Caseload details will be discussed during the interview process.
Pay Range: $30 - $45 per hour, depending on previous experience
General Responsibilities:
Support students with mild to moderate mental health issues
Administer behavioral health screening tool
Administer brief behavioral health assessment to determine the type and urgency of response
required (behavioral health triage)
Crisis intervention
Brief interventions for emotional support and regulation
Obtaining and integrating information regarding a student’s behavior and supports necessary
for success in school and life
Provide short-term individual and small-group counseling services to students
Provide appropriate referrals for students in need of more intensive services
Facilitate Consent for treatment, create treatment plan, documentation
Support implementation of Universal Screening for all students and other building initiatives
